Thomas Lips Art
A gallery featuring the paintings and drawings of Thomas D. Lips from New England to Mexico
About Tom Lips
Thomas D. Lips has been painting since childhood, interrupted by a 25-year hiatus when professional career pursuits preempted the more creative world of art. Winters in historic San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, which abounds in talented artists and robust landscapes, rekindled a long-dormant interest in oil on canvas. In earlier years, Tom focused on New England seascapes in a range of media, and exhibited widely with a number of juried recognitions.
Tom is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Harvard Law School where art and painting were a necessary and therapeutic distraction. He now paints the campo and calles of Mexico in the winter months with rich and vibrant colors that contrast sharply to the more subtle hues of Watch Hill, Rhode Island, where in the summer he paints shoreline scenes in acrylics along with pastels.
When not with paintbrush, chalk, or pencil in hand, Tom is a Managing Director of Investments with a Switzerland-headquartered bank. Between the winter and summer distractions of San Miguel and Watch Hill, Tom resides in South Glastonbury, Connecticut, with his wife and fellow artist Margah.
